This year's RoboCup world championships tournament takes place as a pure online event. While this represents a substantial challenge for all robot-based leagues, the competitions in the soccer simulation 2D league could, by contrast, be conducted as usual - even though without the real-life and social interaction among all participating team members.

16 teams are qualified for the tournament which takes place from June 23rd to June 207th 2021. They will play one another in two competitions:

1. a main challenge which consists of a preliminary round, a main round, and a final round
2. a special challenge (called anonymous challenge)
